Which project was your most successful? Describe the theme and or topic and the process you went through to complete the project. Were the choices you made regarding material, size, technique, etc beneficial to enhancing this project. Please explain. My most successful project was my keys prisma color drawing. The point of this piece was to make something like Georgia O'Keeffe because she zoomed in on objects until they didn't look like what they actually are. I zoomed in on my dad's car keys. I colored most of it in two days but then i realized i didn't like the some of the colors so i had to change by layering on top but that was challenging and didn't turn out how i wanted it. Since I used brown paper, i had to layer my colors a lot to cover it all. I added bright colors to intensify the darks in it. The keys were reflecting so i added bright colors into that also. I was pretty proud of the way this turned out since I had never used prisma before.
Choose 2 mini lessons that you felt were the most beneficial in your learning for that particular project. Include photos of these and explain thoroughly. Do you feel you needed more instruction for success? Explain or did you feel that the instruction given was enough to ensure success? Explain. (if you do not have a photo for this just answer the question without one) Two mini lessons that I felt were most beneficial for the painting project was the value chart and the recreation of famous artists painting. I feel like that with the instruction I was more able to successfully create the piece. After learning techniques, I knew how to blend properly and make darks/lights of certain colors. With the instruction I painted a landscape in the form of a famous artist. I used the skills i got from recreating a painting to start painting the sky with a medium blue but add dark blue and white in to add shadow and clouds. I think its highly important for the artist to learn techniques on what they are creating before they do it. Maybe a little more instruction on when parts of when and how to apply the paint. I had a hard time knowing what paint i should put on first in the painting so would look the best. More instruction the better!
Look over the blogs of other students in our class. Choose a piece of artwork from one of your classmates that you feel is an exemplary showcase of what the project was to depict. Think about how the artist used the medium, utilized the elements of art and design principles, was original with their ideas and went beyond their comfort zone or the realm of the requirements. Make sure you have the image of their artwork along with their name (first name only) posted with this response. I chose Skyler's watercolor Georgia O'Keeffe style painting because I think it embodies the point of the project by observing how O'Keeffe did her painting. The artist used watercolor, which in my opinion is one of the harder mediums, but still managed this piece to come out amazing. The complimentary colors used in his really make it pop and are definitely part of the appeal. The brush strokes in the piece are very nicely done, all one direction. Also the highlights and shadows of the piece are in the right spots. I think the artist took the project and did exactly was asked to do but still made it their own. I don't know the artist that well, so im not sure if they went out of their comfort zone but not many people chose to do watercolor (the ones that did, didn't turn out so well). The water droplets are probably my favorite part of this piece, they really make it look life-like which was definitely a goal in this project. Overall i think the piece is amazing and fits perfectly in with the project!
